Hong Kong Sevens is the sport's most important annual rugby sevens event organized by the IRB Sevens World Series, Historically, it had been contest by 24 teams; all other World Series tournament had 16 teams participate until the 2012–13 edition. All teams are separated into six pools of four teams, who play a round-robin within the pool.
