Rugby Football is a
style of football named after Rugby School in the United Kingdom. It is seen
most prominently in two current sports, rugby league and rugby union. See
comparison of rugby league and rugby union. Play-the-ball is used to resume
play in various instances during a game, but most-commonly immediately
following a tackle. The 2013 Hong KongSevens Rugby competition will be the 38th edition of the competition and the
sixth contest of the 2012-2013 IRB Sevens World Series.
It will again be hosted
by its long-time home, Hong Kong Stadium. The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union
has time-honored the 28 contribute international teams that will take part in
the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens from 22 to 24 March 2013. It is first
time in the 38-year history of the Hong Kong Sevens that 28 teams have been
hosted, up from the 24-team format which was first adopted in 1984. The act of
the play-the-ball is sometimes referred to simply as 'playing the ball'. To
return the ball to play correctly, the tackled player must.
- Have stopped forward progress
- Have both feet on the ground;
- Place the ball on the ground in front of one foot and;
- Roll the ball backwards by use of the boot.
From the moment the
ball is rolled back by the tackled player's boot, the next phase of play
begins. The 'dummy half' is the term used to refer to the player who then picks
up the ball and resumes his team's attack.
It is located between
the player playing-the-ball and the defending marker.
The ruck exists during
the time between a tackle being finished and the following play-the-ball being
completed. The ball cannot be obstructed with by a protecting player whilst it
is in the ruck, if not a penalty will be issued against that player's team. A
penalty is also issued alongside the violent team if the player accountable for
playing the ball, does not play it properly. Many penalties in rugby league happen
in and around the ruck. 2013 Hong Kong Sevens started from 22 March
